Chief Abu Inu Umoru
Born 56years ago, Chief Abu Inu Umoru is the head of the popular Inu Umoru family from Warrake in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State. He spent his early years in Auchi where he attended Our Lady of Fatima Secondary School (now known as Otaru Grammar School, Auchi) and was of the 1980 set. On completion of his secondary education, he proceeded to the Zungeru College of Arts and Science, Minna where he completed a certificate programme in 1983.
His father late Alhaji Inu Umoru’s undying love for education and his own will to better self made him to leave the shores of Nigeria to the United States of America in 1984 where he bagged an Associate Degree from the College of Alamida, Califonia in 1986; and a Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc) in Business Administration in 1989 from the Central Connecticut State University, Connecticut. He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Business School graduating from the University’s Owner / President Management Course (OPM43) of 2013.Â
On completion of his degree programme in 1989, he took up a regular paid employment with Foster Medical Supply Inc. Connecticut where he climbed to the enviable post of Logistics and Shipping manager within 4 (four) months of joining them. This experience form the kernel of his business model which he started in Nigeria in 1990.
Abu felt he has had enough of the United States and came back home in 1990 after spending 6 (six) years plus overseas. He set up his own Hualage and Logistics company in 1991 and grew its fleet of trucks from 3 (three), to over 450 (four hundred and fifty) as at date. The company – Hartland Nigeria Ltd is gradually becoming a household name in the Nigeria as they veered into Road Construction in 2009 and have handled several projects for Edo, Ekiti, Kaduna and Rivers State Government. They have also handled multi billion Naira projects for the Federal Ministry of Works and the Niger – Delta Development Commission (NDDC). They have in recent years veered into health and beauty care, real estates, communications and hotels within and outside Nigeria.
Chief Abu Inu Umoru is also the Chairman (CEO) of Setraco Nigeria Ltd – a foremost construction giant in Nigeria. Chairman Petra Quarries Ltd – a Mining and Quarrying firm, Chairman Aerotek Agro – Allied Company Ltd – an emerging Mixed Mechanized Farm Estate in Edo State, Chairman Beer Barn Ltd, Chairman Presto Hotels Ltd just mention a few.
Abu is a consummate philanthropist and in recognition of his contribution to society and mankind, various clans and communities especially in Edo State bestowed various Chieftaincy titles on him. He loves travelling and soccer. He is happily married to Chief (Mrs) Thelma Inu Umoru and they are blessed with children.
