Senator Francis Alimikhena

Distinguished Senator Francis Alimikhena was born into the humble family of Mr. Azimeye Alimikhena in Igiode- Agenebode Etsako East Local Government, Edo State. He attended Primary and Post Primary School in Igiode and Agenebode.

Distinguished Senator Francis Alimikhena attended the University of Buckingham in United Kingdom where he obtained his bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) and Barrister at Law (BL) from the Nigerian Law School Bwari. He was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister, Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He Joined the Nigerian Army during the Nigeria Civil War fought to keep the country United. He was commissioned a Lieutenant in 1981 and held various positions in the Army. His last post in the Army was staff officer (Finance) Army Forces and Police Petroleum Trust Fund. He retired Voluntarily from the Army in 1999.

Distinguished Senator Francis Alimikhena went into Legal Practice and Later entered into the Turbulent World of Nigeria Politics. He contested twice in 2007 and 2011 to the Senate but was not successful. Like Abraham Lincoln who had no failure in his Havier Sack, he tried a third time and succeeded.

He was elected into the Senate of the 8th Assembly in 2015 and was appointed the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate. He was also Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Housing. Chairman Senate Adhoc Committee on Promissory Notes and Bond Issuance. And Chairman Senate Adhoc Committee on National Minimum Wage Bill 2019. He also function as Chairman Senate Adhoc Committee on the Altercation among EFCC, NIA and DSS.

He is currently the Chairman, Senate Committee on Customs, Excise and Tarrif in the 9th National Assembly. He is Member, Senate Committee on Housing, Appropriation, Navy, Works, Local and Foreign Debt and Gas.

Distinguished Senator Francis Alimikhena is a Liberal democrat, a detribalized Nigerian, a bridge builder and a visionary leader. He is a patron and member of various catholic organizations and a PAPAL NIGHT of ST. GREGORY THE GREAT  KSG. Night of St. Mulumba (KSM) by Pope Benedict XIV.

Senator Francis Alimikhena is actively involved in the crusade for the Rights of Children and Women. This, among his numerous contribution to positive advancement of humanity, was recognized with the prestigious Fellowship Award conferred on him by NKWAME NKRUMAH INSTITUTE.

Also, his philanthropy and humanitarian services was acknowledged by Rotary Club of Abuja with Metro Meritorious Service Award. Guild of St. Anthony of Padua also honored him with an Award in recognition of his services to God and humanity. Usagbe Club of Nigeria also recognized his countless good deeds with meritorious Service Award. His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Valerian the Archbishop of Onitsha also decorated his already colourful plumage with Humanitarian Award. In cognizance of his ceaseless stream of various degrees of Scholarships for educational pursuits, the Auchi Polytechnic Student had earlier presented an Educational Award to Senator Francis Alimikhena.

Senator Francis Alimikhena, popularly called The Oracle Of Development, is a man of multiple genius, buoyant spirit with a heart of benevolence. His words are seasoned with grace and have been consistent in his carriage as an elder statesman with impressive decorum. Senator Francis Alimikhena is one of the most decent and incorruptible Nigerians in public life.

As a Senator representing the people of Edo North, Senator Francis Alimikhena would want to be remembered for a set of pattern and standard which no other senator after him can ignore or reverse. He believes that Democracy must produce development or it would lose credibility.

In his Immortal words Plato once said: “There are some people that the applause of the multitude has misled”. But to Senator Francis Asekhame Alimikhena the applause of the multitude has only spurred him to dedicate better part of his life to greater service for the benefit of humanity.
